Which Crochet Flower Should You Choose? Meet the Kootsiko Flower Finder

“I love you” is usually easy enough to find a flower for.

“You’re the only reason I haven’t walked out of this office” is a slightly more specific brief.

Then there’s “I miss you.” “I’m proud of you.” “I don’t know what to say, but I’m here.” And the occasional “Thank you, next,” which deserves its own little corner of the garden.

I made the Kootsiko Flower Finder for those moments: a free digital tool to help you choose a crochet flower by feeling, occasion, personal style or birth month.

Start with what you want to say

Sometimes, you know exactly who the flowers are for, but have no idea which flower to choose. A rose might feel too romantic. A cheerful daisy might feel right. Or entirely wrong. Choosing something because it’s pretty is perfectly valid. Choosing something because it feels like them is where it gets interesting.

In the Flower Finder, you can choose a message such as love, gratitude, encouragement, missing someone or sending a smile. There are also choices for grief and remembrance, abundance and good fortune, and moving on.

Next, choose the occasion. Birthdays and anniversaries are there, alongside name days, christenings, weddings, Easter and Christmas. So are a new home, a goodbye, divorce or starting over, and a gift for your work bestie. “Just because” is an option too. No occasion committee needs to approve your flower.

Then give it a little personality

The question “What’s their style?” is about the person receiving the flowers. Do they love soft, understated details? Bright colors? Romance? Something bold, Gothic or distinctly otherworldly?

Your suggestions can come from True Garden, Dark Bloom and Alien Echo collections. Because the person you adore might love a delicate botanical branch. Or they might prefer a flower that looks as though it has unfinished business on another planet.

The finder explains why each design was suggested and links to its crochet pattern. You can explore more ideas if the first few don’t feel quite right. Think of them as starting points for choosing, rather than a verdict on someone’s personality.

Or choose by birth month

If you want a more personal starting point, select “Choose by birth month” at the top of the finder. Pick a month to see its traditional birth flowers and the matching Kootsiko designs currently available.

Flower Finder questions, answered

Which crochet flower should I choose for a birthday? Start with the recipient’s birth month or personality. For a cheerful gift, explore the Sunflower or Classic Daisy crochet patterns. The Flower Finder can suggest other designs based on the occasion.

Which flowers work for gratitude or a new beginning? A Magnolia branch makes an elegant thank-you or housewarming project. For a fresh start, consider a Snowdrop. These are creative suggestions, not universal flower meanings.

Can I choose a darker, less traditional flower? Yes. The finder includes Gothic and moody options such as Hellebore Noir. Browse the Dark Bloom collection for more unusual botanical crochet patterns, or explore True Garden for realistic blooms.

Does the Flower Finder sell finished flowers? It recommends Kootsiko designs and links to individual digital crochet pattern pages. If you prefer a handmade finished flower, check the finished flower options and prices.

Birth flower lists vary by tradition. The finder follows The Old Farmer’s Almanac and labels Gothic interpretations as inspired designs. A stylized flower is still a creative interpretation, rather than a botanical replica.

I don’t have a design for every birth flower yet. If there isn’t a match for your month, the finder tells you clearly. It won’t quietly hand you a different flower and hope you don’t notice. You can switch to choosing by feeling and occasion instead.

A little help choosing. Plenty of room for your own meaning.

These recommendations are creative pairings inspired by the character of my designs. Flower meanings change across cultures, colors and personal experiences. The flower that reminds someone of their grandmother, their childhood garden or a very good day can mean more than anything in a flower dictionary.

For grief or remembrance, that personal connection matters especially. Use the suggestions gently, and let what you know about the person guide you.

Pattern links are for digital crochet instructions, so you can make the flower yourself. If you’d prefer me to make it, visit Finished Flowers & Prices and ask about a custom order. Finished designs and timing depend on availability.

Already have someone in mind?

Until next bloom,
🖤
